Reading the info on the page Gaia linked to will get you up to speed quite fast as this will be focused on just that Avastar menu and those buttons. As to the learning curve compared to Blender itself, it's just another few buttons, but this time the buttons will make it easier instead of more complicated.

If only on the time you spend on reading and watching the tutorials that are mostly out-dated and harder, much harder to find.Īnother way is to buy some full perm clothing, texture those, study how it is made in wireframe, how maps are made and so on Sell those and save what you earn to buy Avastar. This is do-able, but it will take you more time. And I still have trouble getting the rigging to work every time.

Ah, Gaia, that is great! Thank you I lost count of how many blood vessels I herniated in my brain and of how many mini-strokes I've had learning Blender for SL. But we slowly catch up and we listen to every user suggestions to further improve the pages. The documentation is still lacking behind a bit though. However you find a couple of videos on our new document site at. We have removed almost all youtube videos from public search to avoid confusion.

You will find less information on this pipeline on the regular Blender fora, those fora are less specific.
Second life blender rigging tutorial plus#
Still, it does make life easier and Gaia is friendly and helpfull whenever she can Another plus is, you will find more ppl can help you here on the forum. There is a l ot of outdated stuff out there. Loads of tutorials on You Tube, but mind the difference in versions. Documentation however, could be less confusing. So, I don't know if they will get new versions once Bento releases. Most of the other animation tools have long since stopped being updated. Just the AvaStar avatar in Blender rigged for animation makes it worth the money. But, it got too time consuming for me and assume Gaia too. She used to make video for those using just Blender, as I once did. Plus, the videos that Gaia provides are a big help. How long would it take you to figure out this problem if you didn't see my article? If you use AvaStar it is a non-issue as AvaStar just handles it. Anything you can do with AvaStar can be done with plan Blender Also, the learning curve for many tasks is much lower with AvaStar. It absolutely simplifies the whole rigging and weighting and is worth every penny. I have to say that I wouldn't have gotten anywhere without Avastar. Please take a moment to consider if this thread is worth bumping.
